Professor Akira Furusawa and his colleagues have succeeded in “rigorously verifying the non-locality of a quantum”. The non-locality of a single quantum, which was proposed by Einstein about 100 years ago, has remained a controversial issue in physics. However, by using homodyne measurements of photons as waves, the team has succeeded in rigorously verifying the non-locality of a quantum (photon) for the first time. The paper was published in nature communications on 24 March (UK time).
