Professor Yasunobu Nakamura and his colleagues have fabricated a parametron using a superconducting circuit and applied it to read out a qubit, achieving a single-trial readout with a precision of more than 90%, a result that could be applied to quantum error correction, in which the exact qubit state can be read out in a single measurement. The paper has been published in Nature Communications on 25 July (UK time).
