Professor Takao Someya (Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering, Professor), Associate Professor Tomoyuki Yokota and their colleagues, in collaboration with Associate Professor Masaki Sekino, have developed an ultra-thin (2㎛) organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and succeeded in stimulating the brain and nerves of animals with light-responsive neurons. This achievement was published in the electronic edition of “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the Unitede States of America” on 17 August.
